Can Cannabis Help Your Gut-

When Joe Silverman developed Crohn’s disease at age 21, the symptoms started out mild. While the sight of blood in his stools initially freaked him out, what really bothered him was the frequent abdominal pain and bloating that occurred as his condition progressed to moderate and then severe. Dietary changes didn’t make a difference, so he began taking prescription oral anti-inflammatory drugs that are often used to treat certain bowel diseases, which alleviated but didn’t eliminate his discomfort. He started using prescription steroid suppositories to cope with flare-ups of the inflammatory bowel disease.

Even so, “I didn’t feel well—my mind was cloudy and I was in pain,” says Silverman, now 47, the co-founder of the PSMC5 Foundation, whi…

Now Is Our Chance to Rebuild U.S. Public Schools To Address Both Climate Change and Racial Inequality

When school facilities closed for in-person learning in early March 2020, the assumption was that the shutdown and pandemic would be temporary blips in the memory of our students. Some 16 months later, school facilities are finally preparing to re-open for in-person learning. We could go about business as usual, but after the devastation of the pandemic, and the increasingly widespread climate-change-linked weather disasters, it’s obvious we should not. Emerging from the crisis of COVID-19 gives us an opportunity to rethink our public schools, to simultaneously the structural inequalities that pervade the system, and prepare it for the climate emergency ahead.

Lawmakers have had difficulty grappling with the layering of immediate and longer-lasting crises. That’s where…

The Best Way to Save Nature- More Nature

Avocets, terns and gulls swoop down onto Wallasea Island on England’s eastern coast, searching for food between blades of grass ruffled by the summer sea breeze. Aside from the wind, and the odd chirp or squawk, it’s quiet—the kind of peaceful scene that seems like it’s been going on for centuries. Yet five years ago, these wetlands didn’t exist.

The mud the birds have landed on once lay under the streets of central London. In 2015, as part of a railway project, a construction crew scooped more than 3 million metric tons of dirt out from beneath the capital and piled it onto farmland on the coastline of the county of Essex, 50 miles east. In summer 2019, a crane hoisted old heavy machinery out of the water, removing the last vestiges of human interfer…

Welcome to Earth 2.0°C

Addressing the climate crisis will be difficult and demand focused attention and action. It is not a problem that will go away, and in fact a lot of new evidence shows that the world is heating and changing faster, weather-wise, than we expected just a few years ago. Many highly vulnerable populations and ecosystems already are facing the devastating impacts of climate change. While the COP28 meeting in Dubai late last year provided some glimmers of hope that the world’s countries can meaningfully respond to climate change, it is increasingly clear that the rise in global temperature will exceed the 1.5°C (2.7°F) threshold first defined as part of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. Currently the earth has experienced approximately 1.15°C of heating above the 19th century baseline an…

UK shoppers set to spend £653m on Father’s Day but fashion boost is limited

Sainsbury’s-owned retailer Argos said Britons spend £56 per head on average celebrating the day (ie not only gift spending), which is more than is spent for Mother’s day (£51). But consumers take just four minutes on average to decide on a dad gift, while they take twice as long for their mums.On average, both mums and dads receive two gifts on their respective days, with tech and electricals proving popular for dads, compared to jewellery and ornaments for mums.

While traditional Father’s day gifts tended to give a big boost to fashion and beauty years ago (as accessories, socks, ties and fragrances were favourites), today’s wishlist items are more likely to be drones, fitness equipment and coffee machines.Argos said the average amount spent on each Father’s Day gif…

‘Tale of two Christmases’ as consumer incomes boom or bust says eBay

Its survey, which polled 2,000 Britons who celebrate Christmas, found 26% of respondents have less disposable income compared to pre-pandemic, compared to 19% who claim to have more. Over half of Britons (55%) report having the same amount of disposable income as pre-pandemic.As a precaution, eBay Ads UK is advising brands to take a “mindful approach” to targeting shoppers and consider the wide-ranging impact of the pandemic “on consumers’ experiences and mindsets”.

Unsurprisingly, those consumers that report having more disposable income plan to spend more on Christmas and have bigger celebrations. Some 24% reveal they plan to put their extra savings towards Christmas presents. Meanwhile, half say they plan to spend more on Christmas gifts and celebrations this year compa…

Chanel issues bond linked to climate targets

Fashion firms have made a public push in recent years to show their environmentally-friendly credentials, switching away from some materials used in clothing or handbags or trying to improve their energy sourcing in stores.A handful are now exploring new financing avenues to back their push towards more stringent goals in areas such as carbon emissions. “Sustainability-linked bonds” are tied to targets at the company-wide level, in contrast to green bonds, which fund specific projects.คำพูดจาก สล็อตเว็บตรง

Fashion businesses make progress on path to net zero, says WRAP

That came as the group published the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP) final report with SCAP having being launched eight years ago and wrapped up last year. It also reported early progress on the new Textiles 2030 programme that was launched back in April with an agreement for the sector to halve GHG emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.

Brands and retailers with over a 60% share of the UK clothing market have now committed to Textiles 2030 in just six months – and the first progress report shows how the 92 signatories plan to deliver climate goals and a circular economy.WRAP said that in the past eight years, SCAP exceeded its targets in areas such as carbon and water footprint, although it struggled to complete the waste element. The most impactful chan…
